Project Engineer (Mechanical)

About the role

The Mechanical Project Engineer will support the Discipline Lead in delivering construction projects on Jurong Island. You will coordinate technical activities, monitor progress, and ensure that safety, quality and schedule targets are met.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in kick‑off and pre‑project meetings to clarify objectives, deliverables, quality, lead‑time and safety requirements.
• Monitor daily progress, compare planned versus actual status, and identify critical activities.
• Prepare engineering documents such as work instructions, progress reports and hand‑over status.
• Coordinate with execution teams to develop detailed work procedures, risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
• Calculate resource usage (labour hours, materials, tools) and compare against budgets, reporting forecasts to senior engineers.
• Support the Senior Engineer/Construction Manager in task allocation and site instruction.
• Ensure compliance with specifications, standards and contractual requirements across all disciplines.
• Assist in resolving engineering issues, prepare documentation for variations, and update project status regularly.
• Verify work for monthly progress billing and prepare close‑out documents for client acceptance.

Required profile

• Minimum Diploma in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in a similar project engineering role.
• Strong understanding of construction processes, resource planning and risk management.
• Ability to communicate technical requirements clearly to multidisciplinary teams.
