Research Fellow - ASEAN Families Study (1 Year Contract)

About the role

Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) is seeking a full-time research fellow for a multi-year, multi-country study on the state of families in ASEAN. The project aims to build regional knowledge on the family as a social institution so that families can be better supported amid demographic, societal and environmental change. The post is a one-year contract.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, manage and implement the research study as an experienced member of the research team.
• Write research protocols and ethics applications, and oversee IRB submissions including amendments and reports.
• Coordinate with the survey vendor on data collection and work with the PIs on statistical analysis plans and implementation.
• Publish in peer-reviewed journals as lead or contributing author and organise and draft project reports.
• Prepare presentations for meetings and conferences, liaise with local and regional stakeholders, and organise conferences, symposia and workshops.
• Supervise and mentor research associates and assistants, and carry out other project administration.

Required profile

• Master's degree or above in Sociology, Economics or a relevant social science.
• At least one year of full-time experience in a similar role.
• Familiarity with the socioeconomic situation of ASEAN and Asia.
• Track record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
• Commitment to at least one year of service.

Required skills

• Statistical software: STATA, R, SPSS or SAS.
• Microsoft Office Suite.
• Research, budgeting, reporting and administrative skills.
