Senior Manager / Assistant Director (Training and Curriculum Development)

About the role

The MPA Academy is looking for a Senior Manager / Assistant Director to develop its training workplan and drive the implementation of programmes that build knowledge and skills among MPA staff. The role covers training programmes, curriculum development, stakeholder engagement, knowledge sharing and team leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct skills gap analyses and training needs assessments to build training roadmaps tailored to the gaps.
• Organise and run programmes that equip MPA officers with the knowledge and skills to perform their jobs productively.
• Work with line divisions to develop and regularly review the curriculum, identify courses by competency in key domain expertise, liaise with training service providers and evaluate course content, trainer experience and price.
• Monitor maritime sector learning and development trends and incorporate best practice into training.
• Support e-learning delivery methods and the development and implementation of a Learning Management System.
• Promote training programmes, courses and events through newsletters, brochures, electronic direct mail and videos, and use data to assess and report on training impact.
• Manage adjunct trainers and training partners, and establish partnerships with public agencies, industry, schools and higher education institutions.
• Spearhead the documentation and sharing of institutional knowledge through case studies, oral interviews and records of public talks.
• Lead and mentor junior team members and collaborate with cross-functional teams; undertake other roles as required.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification with at least 5 to 6 years of experience administering or coordinating training programmes and organising events such as talks and seminars.
• Familiarity with curriculum development is an advantage.
• Good knowledge of the maritime industry is preferred.
• Able to work effectively in teams.

Required skills

• Strong interpersonal, organisational, analytical and writing skills.
• Curriculum development experience is an advantage.
