Safety Officer

About the role

The Safety Officer will act as the appointed Workplace Safety & Health Officer (WSHO) and Fire Safety Manager (FSM) for an aerospace engineering services company, ensuring full compliance with Singapore's safety legislation and fostering a strong safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as WSHO and FSM to guarantee adherence to the Workplace Safety and Health Act, Fire Safety Act and related regulations.
• Conduct regular risk assessments, safety inspections and fire emergency response plans, including fire drills and audits.
• Assist in developing, monitoring and updating the Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) programme, policies and work plans.
• Manage safety training, certification and compliance for all personnel.
• Oversee external vendor and contractor safety compliance.
• Investigate workplace accidents, incidents and near‑misses, compile reports and recommend preventive measures.
• Plan and execute internal and external audits (ISO 14001, ISO 45001) and support ISO 9001 compliance.
• Coordinate industrial health monitoring reports and EHS committee meetings.
• Maintain and update all EHS documentation and promote safety awareness programs.

Required profile

• Minimum Diploma in engineering or an equivalent field.
• Registered Workplace Safety and Health Officer with the Ministry of Manpower (MOM).
• Registered Fire Safety Manager with the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems and local WSH and fire safety regulations.
• Excellent teamwork, technical competence and negotiation skills.
• Noise Control Officer (NCO) qualification is an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications for reporting, document updates and analysis.
• Ability to conduct risk assessments, safety inspections and fire drills.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
