Senior Executive – Chemical Store Operations

About the role

We are looking for a dynamic Senior Executive to support the Chemical Store Assistant Manager in overseeing daily operations, safety, and procurement for the School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (CCEB). The role ensures reliable supply of chemicals and consumables to teaching labs and research teams while maintaining strict safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and promote safety protocols for hazardous chemicals, including inspections, documentation, and training.
• Receive, inspect, and organise supplier deliveries; manage internal purchase orders for research groups.
• Conduct cycle counts, forecast demand, and update the CBC Store online inventory system.
• Source quotations, negotiate with suppliers, and achieve cost‑effective bulk purchasing.
• Handle monthly invoicing, intra‑billings, and coordinate chemical waste disposal.
• Collaborate with the safety committee and safety officer on regulatory compliance.

Required profile

• Experience in managing a high‑volume chemical store or similar inventory environment.
• Strong understanding of safety regulations for hazardous materials, flammable substances, and chemical waste.
• Ability to work closely with academic staff, research teams, and external vendors.
• Attention to detail and proactive problem‑solving attitude.
