Senior Lead Cyber Detection Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Lead Cyber Detection Engineer to spearhead detection engineering, threat hunting and intelligence integration for our security operations centre. The role combines technical leadership with hands‑on development of high‑fidelity detection use cases across SIEM, EDR, NDR and cloud platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and tune detection use cases mapped to MITRE ATT&CK, reducing dwell time and false positives.
• Drive Detection‑as‑Code practices using automation, version control and CI/CD pipelines.
• Lead proactive, hypothesis‑driven threat hunting across endpoints, network, cloud and identity systems.
• Operationalise strategic, tactical and operational threat intelligence into actionable detections.
• Mentor SOC analysts and junior detection engineers, set quality standards and act as escalation point.
• Develop scripts and tooling (Python, PowerShell) and integrate with SOAR platforms to automate enrichment and response.
• Collaborate with IT, Cloud, DevOps, Fraud and Risk teams to improve visibility and support regulatory audits.

Required profile

• 10‑15+ years of cybersecurity experience, including 5+ years in detection engineering or threat hunting.
• 3+ years in a senior technical or lead role.
• Strong experience with SIEM platforms, EDR/XDR solutions and threat‑hunting methodologies.
• Hands‑on knowledge of Agentic AI and large language models.
• Deep understanding of the MITRE ATT&CK framework and adversary TTPs.
• Experience securing cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and identity platforms (Azure AD, IAM).
