Senior Software Engineer, Edge Team

About the role

Airwallex, the AI-native financial operating system used by more than 675,000 businesses, is looking for Senior Software Engineers to shape and evolve its edge infrastructure. You will architect and build the software foundations powering the global edge, writing high-quality code and owning end-to-end features for the API gateway, CDN layer, DNS routing and perimeter security. You will partner with product, platform and security experts so your work goes live for millions of requests every day.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and ship new gateway and CDN features, such as plugin-driven routing, smart cache policies and dynamic purge APIs.
• Build libraries and pipelines for rate limits, WAF/filter rules and bot detection, embedded in the edge stack.
• Create CLI plugins and lightweight frameworks so other teams can register APIs, enforce policies and preview traffic insights quickly.
• Analyse metrics, find latency or fail-over gaps and deliver code-level optimisations to keep requests fast and reliable.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of back-end development experience building large-scale, high-throughput services.
• Comfortable working across product, platform and security teams and explaining complex ideas clearly.

Required skills

• Proficiency in one or more languages such as Java, Go or Python, with strong software-design and system-thinking skills.
• Preferred: 3+ years designing and operating distributed, low-latency systems (API gateway, cache) or security-focused development.
• Preferred: using data to find performance or reliability bottlenecks and taking full ownership of work in a fast-paced environment.
