Shift Boiler Operator – Utilities for Pharma Plant Start‑Up

About the role

The Shift Boiler Operator will ensure the continuous and safe operation of the boiler system supporting a new pharmaceutical plant start‑up. This role involves daily monitoring, first‑line troubleshooting and compliance with HSE and GMP standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the boiler system, including boiler unit, deaerator, condensing economizers, blowdown, fuel and condensate systems, and steam header.
• Implement and follow preventive and predictive maintenance programmes and spare‑parts strategies.
• Assist in root‑cause investigations, corrective and preventive actions, and SOP updates for the boiler system.
• Support engineering projects aimed at improving efficiency and reliability.
• Execute energy‑saving initiatives to reduce water, electricity and steam consumption.
• Maintain 5S standards and meet EHS requirements on‑site.
• Lead, mentor and train shift team members, ensuring effective inter‑department communication.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in large pharmaceutical, chemical or semiconductor environments.
• Certified Steam Boiler Engineer or Steam Boiler Attendant (1st Class) certification.
• Proven ability to work 12‑hour shifts under pressure and meet strict timelines.
• Experience with Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) is an advantage.

• EHS compliance.
• Proficiency with Office software and ability to read technical drawings.
