AI Engineer (1 Year Contract)

About the role

Prudential's AI Lab and Incubator is hiring an AI Engineer for a 1-year contract. The engineer supports the development and operation of the global AI sandbox, builds cutting-edge AI solutions, runs R&D and gives technical guidance to teams incubating AI products. The role works closely with internal and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality AI products.

Key responsibilities

• Help develop and maintain the AI Lab's global sandbox platform, improve it with user feedback and help teams use it for AI product development.
• Carry out R&D on AI, machine learning and large language model frameworks, and give technical guidance to teams under incubation.
• Analyse and interpret data to provide actionable insights and recommendations.
• Optimise and fine-tune AI models for performance, scalability and accuracy, and ensure AI products follow Prudential's risk, data protection and technology risk policies.
• Support quality assurance processes and mentor junior engineers in AI and machine learning best practices.
• Work with cross-functional teams, universities, start-ups, hyperscalers and government agencies, and represent Prudential at industry events.
• Contribute to AI talent development through training programmes and share knowledge within the AI Lab.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning or a related field.
• Proven experience of 5 years or more developing and deploying AI models and algorithms.
• Strong technical background in data, AI and modern cloud infrastructure.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication and collaboration skills, and a passion for innovation in the insurance industry.

Required skills

• Programming in Python and R.
• Machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, and LLM, computer vision and NLP frameworks.
• Data preprocessing, feature engineering, model evaluation, MLOps and LLMOps.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud or Azure.
