AI Engineer (GovText)

About the role

Assurity Trusted Solutions (ATS), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Government Technology Agency (GovTech), is hiring an AI Engineer for its GovText project. GovText is a text-related AI platform within GovTech's Data and Artificial Intelligence Platforms team, aiming to provide reusable AI services so that agencies can incorporate AI into their systems and applications. The role involves building prototypes, designing secure architectures and developing applications.

Key responsibilities

• Build prototypes to demonstrate technology opportunities
• Design system architectures while accounting for security and infrastructure constraints
• Write production-quality code and backend and frontend development of applications
• Integrate AI platform services such as RAG pipelines and evaluation during application development
• Manage deployments to on-premise infrastructure and cloud
• Collaborate with stakeholders so that inputs are aligned and applications are cleared for deployment
• Potentially work on text NLP platform services and tools
• Learn and share knowledge in a multi-disciplinary team; senior engineers are expected to establish best practices and mentor others

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to build software and write efficient code
• Able to think critically about how to get code correct and cover edge cases
• Ability to talk and reason about code with other engineers
• Proficiency in at least one programming language and willingness to learn
• Interest in data science and machine learning, and a desire to work for the public good

Required skills

• Python and JavaScript, with experience designing, developing and maintaining RESTful APIs
• Web frameworks such as FastAPI
• Frontend development and deployment, e.g. React, Jest and Tailwind CSS
• Advantageous: cloud or on-premises production experience, DevOps, CI/CD and on-premise infrastructure
• Advantageous: orchestration, monitoring, logging and LLM application tools such as LangChain, Prefect and Prometheus
• Advantageous: integrating data sources and databases such as MongoDB, RDS and Elasticsearch
