Application Engineer (Singapore)

About the role

Applied Materials is a global leader in materials engineering solutions for semiconductor and display manufacturing. The Application Engineer will work closely with customers in Singapore to understand their technical needs, lead complex application activities, and ensure successful implementation of solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop in‑depth understanding of customer technologies and critical gaps, working through the entire cycle until solution implementation.
• Technically lead difficult, complex application activities and guide the application team.
• Lead execution teams on‑site, conduct evaluations and demos at customer locations, and manage statements of work and schedules.
• Interface with customers to analyse technical requirements and define schedules.
• Define and approve product application support plans for installations.
• Create and lead new methodologies to optimise system performance for specific applications.
• Analyse, develop and transfer new application capabilities from product division to the customer support team.
• Lead customer technical review meetings.

Required profile

• Demonstrates conceptual and practical expertise in own discipline and basic knowledge of related disciplines.
• Has knowledge of best practices, understands how the area integrates with others, and is aware of competition.
• Acts as a resource for less‑experienced colleagues and may lead small projects with manageable risks.
• Solves complex problems, brings new perspectives, and exercises sound judgment based on multiple information sources.
• Impacts a range of customer, operational, project or service activities within own and related teams, working within broad guidelines.
• Effectively explains difficult or sensitive information and works to build consensus.
