AS400 Engineer

About the role

Smart IMS is seeking an experienced AS400 Engineer to support and enhance its post‑trading back‑office systems. You will work in a highly regulated financial environment, ensuring stability, performance, and continuous improvement of critical applications.

Key responsibilities

• Provide Level 2/3 support for production incidents across multiple global sites.
• Design, develop, and maintain software modules using RPG (III, IV, Free Form) and CL.
• Perform OS upgrades, LPAR configuration, and patch management to keep the system stable.
• Lead the design and development of post‑trade applications for trade matching, settlement, and payment processing.
• Automate post‑execution operations and integrate legacy AS/400 applications with modern platforms via APIs, web services, IBM App Connect Enterprise or IBM MQ.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, security hardening, and disaster‑recovery procedures.
• Coordinate testing, approval, deployment and post‑deployment verification of enhancements.
• Generate ad‑hoc reports and custom data analysis as needed.

Required profile

• Minimum 6‑8 years of technical support experience in trading or financial services.
• Deep understanding of capital markets, custody, clearing and post‑trade settlement cycles.
• Proven ability to work independently and collaborate with global users.
