About the role
The National Archives of Singapore (NAS), part of the National Library Board, manages the transfer, preservation and access of government records of archival value. Key responsibilities
- Act as business user representative in the development, maintenance and enhancement of digital systems and platforms, working with users, IT colleagues and vendors on requirements, user acceptance testing, issue resolution and project timelines and budget.
- Review and maintain system documentation such as requirements specifications, user manuals and test scripts, and monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues.
- Write scripts in Python or other scripting languages to automate repetitive tasks.
- Prepare and ingest legacy digitised records, resolving data quality issues, and guide government agencies on transfer requirements.
- Maintain policies, guidelines and specifications for digital recordkeeping and preservation, and evaluate tools such as SIARD, Bagger and emerging technologies like Generative AI, developing proof of concepts.
- Monitor developments in digital record formats and platforms (emails, databases, collaboration tools) and propose guidelines and tools.
- Engage government agencies and internal and external stakeholders on collaborative projects, providing training and guidance.
Required profile
- At least 2 years of experience as a business analyst, systems analyst or in a similar role involving system development, maintenance or enhancement.
- Experience managing or contributing to projects, including coordinating timelines, stakeholders and deliverables.
- Strong communication and documentation skills, with experience engaging government agencies, IT colleagues, vendors and business users.
- Able to work independently and take ownership of tasks.
- Curious about new tools and technologies, including AI, and comfortable with ambiguity.
- Familiarity with archival, records management or digital preservation concepts is an advantage; formal archival training is not required.
Required skills
- Writing scripts in Python or other scripting languages for automation and data processing.
- Producing requirements specifications and similar technical documentation.
The position is based at the National Archives of Singapore and is offered on a 2-year contract in the first instance; only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
