Assistant Chief Engineer

About the role

The Assistant Chief Engineer will lead the club’s engineering and building maintenance operations, reporting directly to the Head of Facilities. You will manage a dedicated engineering team to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable performance of all facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regular inspections and audits of building condition, equipment, and mechanical plant, identifying maintenance needs and implementing corrective actions.
• Oversee all engineering requests, maintenance planning, and defect rectification to minimise disruption.
• Drive sustainability targets by identifying and implementing energy‑management and green‑building initiatives.
• Mentor and manage the engineering team, handling staffing, training, performance and deployment.
• Lead risk assessments and ensure continuous compliance with safety, environmental and statutory requirements.
• Manage departmental budgets, CapEx, purchases and ensure timely renewal of service agreements, certifications and permits.
• Liaise with authorities to maintain workplace safety and environmental compliance.
• Coordinate engineering upgrade projects and provide support for club events.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of managerial experience in facilities management.
• In‑depth technical knowledge of building and facilities management, risk assessment and workplace safety & health.
• Proven ability to solve problems and make rational decisions under pressure.
• Strong communication skills and proactive follow‑through.
• Flexibility to work beyond regular hours, including weekends and public holidays.
