Assistant Director – Accessible Education Unit

About the role

The Assistant Director will be a key member of the Accessible Education Unit within the University Wellbeing Office, focusing on special needs education. This senior position leads initiatives that create an inclusive environment for students with diverse needs at NTU.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as Assistant Head, overseeing day‑to‑day operations of the Accessible Education Unit and supporting strategic initiatives.
• Manage complex student cases and guide decisions on academic accommodations and support interventions.
• Plan and implement inclusive education initiatives aligned with university strategies.
• Engage with schools, faculty, and internal/external stakeholders to strengthen support for students with special educational needs (SEN).
• Monitor service delivery, analyse trends, and support reporting for continuous improvement.
• Develop and review policies, frameworks, and standard operating procedures to ensure effective and compliant practices.
• Supervise operational processes and support staff development within the unit.

Required profile

• Good degree from a recognised university; postgraduate qualifications with relevant specialisation preferred.
• 6–8 years of management experience involving substantial interaction with students with special needs.
• Prior experience in the tertiary education sector is advantageous.
• Strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication, organisational, and analytical skills.
