Assistant Director, Infrastructure & Cloud Operations

About the role

The Assistant Director (Infrastructure & Cloud Operations) joins a lean two‑person infrastructure team as a senior individual contributor. Working in a vendor‑managed environment, the role balances governance, vendor coordination and hands‑on technical execution to keep hybrid (on‑premises and cloud) systems stable and resilient.

Key responsibilities

• Support day‑to‑day infrastructure operations across network, compute, storage, backup and end‑user platforms.
• Perform configuration changes, first‑cut troubleshooting, deployments, patch oversight, backup/restore validation and health checks.
• Establish operational KPIs, dashboards and reporting; drive service improvement through automation and process optimisation.
• Act as technical escalation point for incident, problem and change management.
• Operationalise cloud foundations (landing zones, network and identity integration, monitoring, backup, DR and cost governance).
• Contribute to cloud migration activities and ensure post‑migration stability.
• Operate and support AWS and Azure services, coordinating with vendors/MSPs.
• Identify and implement optimisation opportunities (right‑sizing, scheduling, storage tiering).
• Oversee end‑user computing services, asset and software license inventory, and compliance monitoring.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with strong hands‑on infrastructure and cloud expertise.
• Experience working in a small, vendor‑managed team and handling both governance and technical execution.
• Proven ability to manage hybrid environments and drive operational discipline.
• Comfortable acting as a technical escalation point and leading incident/problem resolution.
