Assistant Engineer – Maintenance (Rotating Shift)

About the role

The Assistant Engineer will support the maintenance of packaging and material handling equipment at our Jurong Island facility. Working on a rotating 12‑hour shift, you will ensure equipment reliability and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on packaging, conveyor, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Diagnose faults, execute repairs, and restore equipment to operational status promptly.
• Utilise predictive maintenance techniques and CMMS to minimise downtime.
• Lead a team of technicians, coordinate vendor fabrication work, and manage critical spare‑part inventory.
• Document commissioning of new equipment, record work orders and generate management reports.
• Conduct risk assessments, root‑cause analysis and support failure analysis with the operations team.
• Mentor junior technicians and drive continuous‑improvement projects.

Required profile

• Diploma in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in automation or equipment maintenance.
• Willingness to work 12‑hour rotating shifts and standby duties.

Required skills

• Knowledge of AC drives, electrical motors and pneumatic cylinders.
• Experience with roller/chain conveyors.
• Ability to debug and modify PLC programs; familiarity with PLC and electrical systems.
• Proficiency reading Electrical Single Line Diagrams and low‑voltage distribution boards.
• Use of predictive maintenance tools and CMMS.
