Assistant Head, Strategic Planning & Engagement

About the role

The National Institute of Education (NIE), Singapore's national teacher education institute, is hiring an Assistant Head for its Strategic Planning & Engagement department within the NIE Director's Office. The role supports the Head of Department in overseeing and executing NIE's strategic planning and engagement processes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide secretariat support and follow-through for key leadership and board meetings to drive executive-level decisions.
• Develop, monitor, communicate and report on institutional strategic initiatives and their success indicators.
• Organise and manage strategic engagement activities for senior leadership, appointment holders and senior staff, such as leadership retreats, annual strategic reviews and annual addresses.
• Support cross-institutional projects arising from the Strategic Plan, such as steering committees, task forces, programme reviews and strategic projects.
• Support the HOD in managing NIE-level intellectual property and the office, including budget, assets and physical spaces.
• Assist in special or ad-hoc projects and institutional events as assigned.

Required profile

• University degree.
• At least 3 to 5 years of relevant experience, with a strong interest and/or track record in strategic planning, organisational development and/or copywriting and editing.
• Working experience in a public-funded educational institution is advantageous.

Required skills

• Excellent conceptualisation, analytical and written communication and copywriting skills.
• Able to process large amounts of text and numerical information daily.
• High proficiency in MS Office; working knowledge of document and information management systems.
• Working knowledge of statistics and data analysis, and of corporate work planning and budgeting, are advantages.
