Assistant Tax Manager

About the role

Reporting to the Head of Tax & Accounting, the Assistant Tax Manager will support tax compliance for Evonik's Singapore and Malaysia entities. The role collaborates closely with business lines and service units, assisting in the development of tax strategies that enhance profitability and mitigate exposure.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit corporate income tax and withholding tax returns for local statutory compliance.
• Manage group reporting requirements, including quarterly provisional tax, deferred tax, and margin reporting.
• Analyze business transactions to identify tax risks and potential savings.
• Review financial data for property tax assessments and objections.
• Monitor tax incentive requirements, including EDB grant submissions and audits.
• Respond to tax authority queries and support tax audits.
• Assist in preparing local Transfer Pricing documentation.
• Explore and implement technologies to improve tax compliance and planning processes.
• Drive automation and digitalisation of tax processes.
• Handle ad‑hoc tax‑related projects as assigned.

Required profile

• Degree in Accountancy or equivalent professional qualification.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Singapore corporate tax compliance or advisory, preferably with Big 4 exposure.
• Strong analytical mindset and meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to multi‑task, meet tight deadlines, and work independently as well as in a team.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with all management levels and external parties.

Required skills

• Proficient in MS Office.
• Affinity for digitisation topics; knowledge of automation tools is an advantage.
