Assistant/Associate Professor – Design & Technology Education

About the role

The National Institute of Education (NIE) at Nanyang Technological University seeks an Assistant Professor or Associate Professor to advance Design & Technology (D&T) education. This position involves teaching, research, and service within the Natural Sciences and Science Education (NSSE) Department.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deliver, and assess undergraduate and graduate courses in D&T education.
• Supervise pre‑service and in‑service teacher practicum projects, as well as Master’s and Doctoral theses.
• Conduct high‑quality research, publish in top‑tier international education journals, and secure competitive research grants.
• Participate in departmental and university committees, contributing to curriculum development and academic governance.
• Provide professional development programmes for teachers and engage with multilingual, multicultural educational contexts.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Arts or Engineering and a PhD in Education with a focus on Design & Technology.
• Strong record of peer‑reviewed publications in international education journals.
• Ability to teach in English and, for the Assistant Professor level, at least five years of secondary‑level teaching experience with leadership responsibilities.
• Post‑doctoral research experience and experience delivering professional development for teachers are desirable.
• For Associate Professor candidates: sustained international reputation, high‑impact publications, major grant funding, and teaching awards.
