Associate Corporate Counsel – Southeast Asia

About the role

Google is seeking an Associate Corporate Counsel to support a broad range of commercial, advisory, regulatory, and contentious matters across its products and services in Southeast Asia. You will work in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment, helping to navigate complex legal challenges that arise from cutting‑edge technology.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct legal reviews and provide advisory support for product, marketing, and business initiatives across Southeast Asia.
• Respond to legal requests from Marketing, Sales, Product, Finance, Tax and other cross‑functional teams.
• Review draft legislation and coordinate with Google’s Global Affairs team.
• Build and maintain relationships with regulators, manage inquiries, and resolve contentious issues.
• Advise management and project teams in APAC and the United States on legal risks.
• Collaborate with external counsel on regulatory matters and expert advice.

Required profile

• JD, LL.B., equivalent degree, or comparable practical experience.
• At least 3 years of attorney‑level experience in government, in‑house, or law firm settings.
• Admission to the Singapore bar and good standing (or authorized in‑house status).
• Preferred: 6 years of advisory/regulatory experience in IP, media, extended workforce, or technology areas within Southeast Asia.
• In‑house experience with a multinational corporation and prior law‑firm experience.
• Strong knowledge of privacy, consumer protection, antitrust, contract, content moderation/safety, or IP law in a technology context.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects under deadline pressure.
• Excellent commercial judgment, leadership, investigative, discussion and agreement drafting skills; well‑organized, detail‑oriented and resourceful.
