Associate Director, Structured Asset Finance

About the role

As an Associate Director, Structured Asset Finance you will originate, structure and execute complex asset‑backed financing transactions across aviation, maritime and telecommunications, working closely with relationship managers and product partners to grow ANZ’s franchise.

Key responsibilities

• Originate, structure and execute Structured Asset Finance transactions across ANZ’s international network, focusing on aviation, maritime and telecommunications.
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities to grow the Structured Asset Finance portfolio.
• Develop financing solutions that meet client objectives while aligning with ANZ’s risk and return requirements.
• Prepare high‑quality client presentations, transaction proposals and marketing materials.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients in partnership with Relationship Managers and coverage teams.
• Lead transaction execution, coordinating internal and external stakeholders through to completion.
• Prepare detailed credit submissions, financial analysis and pricing approval papers.
• Engage with Credit teams to negotiate structures, address risk considerations and secure approvals.
• Ensure transactions comply with ANZ policies, credit standards, governance requirements and operating procedures.
• Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date transaction, credit and client documentation.
• Partner closely with Relationship Management, Markets, Risk, Legal and Operations teams to deliver seamless client outcomes.
• Contribute to a collaborative, high‑performing team culture and demonstrate ANZ’s values.

Required profile

• Proven experience in structured finance, asset finance, project finance, leveraged finance or a related institutional banking environment.
• Demonstrated experience originating, structuring and executing complex lending transactions across domestic and cross‑border markets.
• Strong credit analysis and credit writing skills, with ability to prepare high‑quality credit submissions and investment recommendations.
• Experience managing transactions from origination through approval, documentation and financial close.
• Sound understanding of structured finance products, lending structures, risk assessment and portfolio management principles.
• Proven ability to build and manage relationships with corporate clients, internal stakeholders and external counterparties.
• Strong working knowledge of banking policies, credit frameworks, regulatory requirements and transaction approval processes.
• Experience collaborating across Relationship Management, Risk, Markets, Legal and Operations teams.
• Exposure to syndicated lending, club deals and multi‑bank financing transactions (highly regarded).
• Knowledge of non‑lending products such as capital markets and risk management solutions (advantageous).
• Experience working with lessors, alternative capital providers, equity investors or non‑bank lenders (desirable).
• Understanding of aviation and/or maritime sectors, including aircraft and vessel finance structures (beneficial).
