Associate Professor – Head of Vocal Studies

About the role

The Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music seeks an internationally recognised vocalist or collaborative musician to lead its Vocal Studies program. This full‑time, practice‑track appointment will shape the artistic vision of vocal training at a leading Asian conservatory.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a dynamic vocal studio and oversee curriculum development.
• Teach and supervise adjunct faculty in opera workshop, diction, literature, pedagogy and language instruction (German, French, Italian).
• Engage in community outreach, regional artistic activities and student recruitment through national and international programmes.
• Lead artistic research initiatives in performance and pedagogy.
• Collaborate with the Dean’s Office and other departments to enhance the Conservatory’s international profile.

Required profile

• Outstanding vocalist or collaborative musician with significant performance and leadership experience.
• Academic qualifications relevant to conservatory training.
• Proven teaching experience at conservatory or tertiary level focused on professional music training.
• Demonstrated record of artistic research and scholarly activity.
• Strong communication, collaborative and organisational abilities.

Required skills

• Instruction in German, French and Italian for vocal repertoire.
• Expertise in opera workshop, diction, vocal literature and pedagogy.
