Associate, Public Sector Group, Asia

About the role

The Associate supports the leadership of the Public Sector Group (PSG) in Asia, serving clients such as central banks, sovereign wealth funds, public pension funds and other government-affiliated entities. It is an intermediate, high-visibility role combining regional franchise management with industry expertise, leading coverage strategy, client and segment prioritization and public sector insights. The Associate sits in the regional hub team and coordinates across a network of about 40 bankers and partners.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Regional Head in overseeing business performance across Asia, leading coverage strategy, client and segment prioritization and key thematic initiatives
• Lead risk-return governance for non-presence countries and manage the regional hub team
• Act as the regional industry expert, giving sector insights and strategic guidance to country bankers and supporting local teams on complex, thematic or cross-border topics
• Liaise between regional leadership, product partners, country teams and global counterparts, and with other regions, to align strategy and coordinate globally
• Assess risks appropriately and adhere to all policies, protecting the firm, its clients and assets

Required profile

• 5-8 years of relevant experience in institutional banking, preferably with a strong background in public sector coverage across Asia
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; Master's degree and/or professional qualifications (e.g. CPA, CFA) and relevant language skills are a plus
• Strong strategic thinking, communication and presentation skills, and the ability to engage credibly with clients and internal stakeholders
• Collaborative team player able to influence and mobilize cross-functional and cross-border teams
