Associate/Assistant General Counsel – Employment & Benefits APAC

About the role

Bank of America is seeking an experienced legal professional to join its APAC HR legal team as an Associate/Assistant General Counsel. The role will be based in Hong Kong (with possible remote work from Singapore) and will provide strategic, commercial legal advice on employment and benefits matters across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver first‑class, risk‑appropriate legal counsel to HR generalists and country partners in APAC.
• Manage legal and regulatory risks throughout the employment lifecycle, aligning advice with the bank’s risk framework.
• Collaborate with internal control functions, external counsel, and the EMEA HR Legal team.
• Draft, review, and update employment contracts, policies, and HR documentation.
• Provide regular training and guidance on employment law to HR and legal stakeholders.
• Engage and oversee outside counsel on cost‑effective basis for complex matters.

Required profile

• Minimum of 10 years of post‑Bar experience in employment and benefits law.
• Strong commercial acumen with ability to balance risk and business objectives.
• Proven experience advising multinational organizations on HR legal issues.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build trusted relationships with HR and business leaders.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of APAC employment legislation and regulatory frameworks.
• Experience managing cross‑border legal projects and coordinating with external counsel.
• Ability to translate complex legal concepts into practical business solutions.
