Associate/Legal Counsel (Compliance)

About the role

As an Associate/Legal Counsel (Compliance) in Shopee's HQ Legal Team, you will partner with business units across multiple markets to provide legal and compliance guidance on new products, features and services. The role is ideal for a self‑starter lawyer with a strong interest in e‑commerce and technology who wants to make a tangible impact on the business.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day legal and compliance advice on platform products, live‑streaming, video content, product liability, logistics and cross‑border matters.
• Review new programs, features and services, drafting internal and external policies as needed.
• Work proactively with stakeholders to assess commercial frameworks, identify legal gaps and develop compliance plans.
• Coordinate with local legal teams to cascade regional initiatives and resolve local issues.
• Monitor the legal landscape, engage with regulatory authorities and deliver internal training.

Required profile

• Singapore‑qualified lawyer with strong contract experience.
• In‑house experience in e‑commerce or internet platforms is a plus.
• Strong analytical and communication skills, capable of leading projects.
• Ability to work effectively with cross‑functional, multicultural teams.
• Proven ability to analyse business risks and provide pragmatic legal advice in a dynamic environment.
