Backend Engineer - Globalization (Mandarin Required)

About the role

A client of Fuku, a rapidly scaling global consumer internet platform, is hiring a Backend Engineer for its International Engineering team in Singapore (CBD, 5 days onsite). The team is building global infrastructure from the ground up, with a genuine 0-to-1 opportunity to design architecture and systems that support international growth across regions, languages and regulatory environments. The role combines backend engineering with work across frontend, data infrastructure and intelligent automation.

Key responsibilities

• Design and evolve the global multi-region architecture and develop scalable backend services and infrastructure
• Own the full engineering lifecycle, from architecture and core development through testing, deployment and production delivery
• Build a data compliance platform from 0 to 1, including a data asset dictionary, cross-border gateway, third-party gateway, and RoPA / DSR capabilities
• Translate privacy and regulatory requirements into engineering solutions, working with Legal, Security and Product teams
• Apply AI-assisted development and explore intelligent capabilities such as sensitive data identification, compliance auditing and automated compliance Q&A
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Legal, Security and Data teams across international locations and take ownership of complex initiatives

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Software Engineering, AI or a related field
• 3-8 years of production experience, preferably in Java or Go
• Strong computer science fundamentals: data structures and algorithms, computer networking, operating systems, software architecture
• Experience developing backend systems, infrastructure platforms or complex enterprise applications
• Interest in data privacy, data governance and regulatory compliance; familiarity with GDPR is advantageous
• Mandarin speaking ability is required
