Backend Engineer Graduate – Content Understanding Architecture

About the role

Join TikTok’s Content Understanding Architecture team as a Backend Engineer Graduate. You will help design and operate highly‑available, low‑latency systems that train and serve large language models for recommendation, security and push‑notification scenarios. The position starts in 2026 and is open to final‑year graduates.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement training and inference architectures that improve efficiency, scalability and stability.
• Build low‑latency inference services to support online and offline processing of massive TikTok content.
• Analyze performance of GPU‑based large‑model workloads and optimise resource utilisation.
• Track emerging technologies and drive upgrades of the team’s technical stack.
• Collaborate with global teams to address challenges of a worldwide architecture.

Required profile

• Final‑year graduate in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Strong interest in large‑model training, inference and optimisation.
• Ability to commit to an onboarding date by the end of 2026.

Required skills

• Experience with high‑concurrency content processing systems.
• Proficiency in distributed frameworks such as Flink or Spark.
• Familiarity with message‑queue platforms like Kafka or Pulsar.
• Programming in at least one language: C++, Python or Java.
• Understanding of GPU‑based training and inference for LLMs.
