Backend Engineer – ShopeePay (Graduate 2027)

About the role

Join ShopeePay’s fast‑growing payment platform as a Backend Engineer. You will work on secure, high‑reliability transaction systems that power payments for millions of merchants and users across Southeast Asia.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop secure, high‑throughput financial transaction services.
• Handle concurrent processing scenarios while ensuring smooth user experiences.
• Define adaptable system modules and deployment schemes for varied business, regulatory and regional requirements.
• Monitor solution quality and performance across projects.
• Lead proof‑of‑concept initiatives and provide technical expertise on platform features, addressing security and risk considerations.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to resolve technical challenges and meet delivery timelines.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and quick learning aptitude.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

Required skills

• Proficiency in at least one language: Golang, Python, C++ or Java.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms and multithreading.
• Experience with relational databases such as MySQL or Oracle and performance optimisation techniques.
• Familiarity with middleware components like Redis, HBase and Kafka.
• Knowledge of distributed architectures and micro‑service frameworks (e.g., Kubernetes).
• Understanding of network protocols (TCP, HTTPS) and data formats (XML, JSON, ProtoBuf).
