Backend Engineer (Spring Boot / Node.js)

About the role

Activate Interactive, a technology consultancy in Singapore, is hiring a Backend Engineer for its Co-Development Business Unit's O&S team, which builds web applications. This is a 24-month fixed-term contract based in the Punggol Digital District.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain REST APIs and backend services using Spring Boot and Node.js
• Troubleshoot and resolve system and deployment issues
• Help improve system performance, scalability and reliability
• Take part in code reviews and follow security and development standards
• Work with frontend developers on API integration and support CI/CD processes
• Join technical discussions and adopt engineering practices

Required profile

• 2 to 5 years of software development experience
• Frontend development experience preferred
• Advantageous: Government / defence (MINDEF / SAF) project experience, exposure to secure or regulated environments, and basic cloud platform knowledge (AWS / Azure)

Required skills

• Hands-on Java and Spring Boot
• REST API development
• Basic Node.js and Maven
• Databases (SQL / NoSQL) and basic application security practices
• Agile or continuous development environments
