Building Painter

About the role

Read blueprints, drawings, and work instructions to assess surfaces and determine the scope of work and materials required. Prepare and paint various surfaces on‑site while ensuring high‑quality finishes and compliance with workplace safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Examine surfaces to determine preparation and painting work required.
• Build scaffolding and protect floors, fixtures, and surrounding areas.
• Prepare walls and surfaces by scraping, sanding, cleaning, and removing old paint.
• Fill cracks, holes, and uneven surfaces using plaster or suitable materials.
• Mix paints and other materials to achieve required colour, texture, and consistency.
• Apply paint, varnish, and finishes using brushes, rollers, caulking guns, and other tools.
• Calculate required materials and project costs when necessary.
• Follow health and safety procedures and maintain a clean working environment.
• Perform other painting and related duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in painting, preferably in construction or commercial sector.
• Good knowledge of painting materials and ability to select, mix, and apply them correctly.
• Knowledge of surface preparation and construction painting techniques.
• Physically fit, able to work at heights and perform manual work.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including night shifts, weekends, and public holidays.

Required skills

• Use of painting tools and equipment such as brushes, rollers, caulking guns, ladders, and scaffolding.
• Mixing paints to achieve desired colour, texture, and consistency.
