Buyer – Procurement Specialist

About the role

As a Buyer you will purchase materials, supplies, machinery and services that equip Applied Materials' state‑of‑the‑art manufacturing facilities. You will work across engineering, manufacturing and supply‑chain teams, monitor inventory, manage delivery schedules, negotiate with suppliers and procure essential items that turn possibilities into realities for customers and internal teams.

Key responsibilities

• Quote, procure and purchase materials, components, equipment and services at the lowest cost while ensuring quality, reliability and urgency.
• Issue RFQs, analyse proposals, negotiate prices and delivery terms, and manage purchase orders.
• Follow up on orders, verify deliveries, approve payments and maintain records.
• Review MRP regularly, execute pull‑ins, push‑outs and planned orders, and escalate issues to materials management.
• Lead purchasing activities with manufacturing and engineering to maintain inventory at planned levels and resolve material‑related accounting or receiving issues.

Required profile

• Demonstrates conceptual and practical expertise in procurement with basic knowledge of related disciplines.
• Understands best practices, market competition and how procurement integrates with other functions.
• Acts as a resource for less‑experienced colleagues and can lead small, low‑risk projects.
• Solves complex problems using judgment based on multiple information sources.
• Communicates difficult or sensitive information effectively and builds consensus.

Required skills

• Ability to read part specifications and engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of material types to communicate effectively with engineers and suppliers.
