C++ Software Engineer – Exchange Trading Development

About the role

We are hiring a software engineer to join our Exchange Trading Development (ETD) team, which builds and maintains XTX Markets’ proprietary trading technology. The role turns quantitative research ideas into production systems that interpret market data, dispatch orders, and design the underlying infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain high‑performance C++ and Python code for market data handling and order execution.
• Design and implement infrastructure components, selecting appropriate hardware such as FPGA and GPU accelerators.
• Perform cross‑domain optimisations by collaborating with quant research, networking, and operations teams.
• Respond quickly to trading‑floor issues, ensuring systems are ready for each exchange’s schedule.
• Lead larger‑scale projects that improve system performance or unlock new trading opportunities.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of modern C++ (C++11 and later) with experience in a post‑2011 codebase.
• Deep understanding of low‑level computer architecture, including caching, paging, system calls, and CPU execution pipelines.
• Solid grasp of algorithms and data structures and ability to reason about performance trade‑offs.
• Ability to design and implement complex, long‑running software systems independently.
