Client Engagement Officer – Operations

About the role

The Client Engagement Officer supports New Hope Community Services in providing a safe, supportive shelter environment for displaced and disadvantaged residents. You will oversee day‑to‑day operations, ensure resident well‑being, and help maintain a secure, welcoming space.

Key responsibilities

• Provide administrative and operational support for shelter activities, handling resident queries and assisting with admissions and orientation.
• Manage conflicts and crisis situations among co‑living residents, de‑escalating incidents and reporting to senior staff.
• Support workplace safety by conducting inspections, performing minor repairs, and enforcing shelter rules.
• Collect and maintain statistics, client records, payment logs, and inventory of donations and rations.

Required profile

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective interaction with residents, team members, and partners.
• Strong sense of responsibility, teamwork, and the ability to work independently.
• Willingness to engage respectfully yet firmly with homeless and destitute individuals.
• Physically fit for general work and able to support duties on weekends or after office hours.

Required skills

• Proficiency in IT systems and the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
