Commercial Director – Major Projects

About the role

The Commercial Director (Major Projects) provides senior commercial leadership for high‑risk, complex projects throughout their full lifecycle. Reporting to regional leadership, the role safeguards project margins, strengthens governance, and drives successful delivery across Singapore and the broader region.

Key responsibilities

• Lead commercial strategy during bid positioning, shaping robust, risk‑balanced proposals and negotiating key terms with clients.
• Identify and mitigate commercial red flags such as low‑margin work, onerous liability, and ambiguous scope before commitment.
• Oversee commercial mobilisation after award, translating bid commitments into clear project controls, contracts, and risk registers.
• Establish and maintain a disciplined commercial governance rhythm, including monthly reviews, cash and WIP monitoring, and variation tracking.
• Participate in steering committees, provide commercial reviews, mentor junior staff, and drive continuous improvement of commercial systems.

Required profile

• Proven senior commercial leadership experience on major, multidisciplinary projects.
• Strong track record in bid negotiation, risk allocation, and contract administration.
• Ability to analyse commercial models, pricing assumptions, and payment mechanisms.
• Experience in establishing governance frameworks and reporting cadences.
• Excellent stakeholder management with regional leadership, legal, finance, and technical teams.
