Commis Cook – Fine Dining Chinese Restaurant

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Commis Cook to join our award‑winning Chinese fine‑dining team. Working under the Head or Sous Chef, you will help deliver high‑quality dishes while maintaining the restaurant’s high standards of hygiene and service.

Key responsibilities

• Assist senior chefs in preparing menu items across assigned sections, following standard recipes and SOPs.
• Prepare and assemble ingredients and kitchen equipment before service according to chef instructions.
• Maintain cleanliness of workstations and ensure proper handling, labeling, and storage of food items.
• Apply HACCP principles, monitor temperature controls, and implement FIFO stock rotation.
• Support inventory counts, monitor stock levels, and replenish supplies as needed.
• Collaborate with the kitchen team, guiding assistants when required and performing any additional duties assigned.

Required profile

• Keen to learn with a positive attitude toward culinary challenges.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility to work shifts, split shifts, weekends and public holidays.

Required skills

• Knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients and kitchen equipment.
• Strong understanding of HACCP and food‑safety standards.
• Experience with FIFO stock rotation and inventory management.
• Proficiency in food labeling, temperature control and equipment upkeep.
