Community Worker – Asset-Based Development

About the role

The Community Worker will drive asset‑based community initiatives that address systemic social issues such as poverty. Working from an Asset‑Based Community Development (ABCD) framework, you will co‑create sustainable programmes with local assets and stakeholders, ensuring community ownership.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate discussions with community assets and stakeholders using collaborative ABCD approaches.
• Co‑create and design community initiatives, providing input on program design and resource allocation.
• Develop and deliver training sessions for volunteers, partners and internal staff.
• Conduct needs and asset assessments through surveys, interviews, community mapping and social data analysis.
• Document formal and informal community resources and evaluate programme effectiveness.
• Lead stakeholder engagement to build co‑ownership of community platforms.
• Coordinate external partnerships with volunteers and resource persons.

Required profile

• Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or a related field.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a social service setting.
• Experience planning or organising community or volunteer events.
• Strong belief in community‑centric approaches and understanding of community‑based organisations.
• Adaptable, comfortable with evolving conditions and capable of team management.
