Construction Quality Engineer – Oil & Gas

About the role

SBM Offshore is seeking a Construction Quality Engineer to ensure that all construction activities for oil & gas facilities meet the highest quality, safety and regulatory standards. The role involves close collaboration with construction teams, subcontractors and third‑party inspectors to drive compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee construction quality activities in line with quality plans and inspection test plans (ITPs).
• Coordinate inspections, tests and verifications with construction crews, subcontractors and external inspectors.
• Identify, document and manage non‑conformities, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and recorded.
• Develop and implement quality control procedures and construction method statements.
• Support contractor quality performance assessments and recommend improvements.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests and quality documentation for traceability.
• Participate in audits and reviews to verify compliance with quality assurance systems and regulatory standards.
• Promote a quality‑focused culture on site through coaching and day‑to‑day interactions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in construction quality management within the oil & gas sector.
• Strong knowledge of international quality standards such as ISO 9001.
• Familiarity with welding, NDT and materials inspection processes.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CQE, CSWIP, API) are a plus.
• Proficiency in additional languages is beneficial for international projects.
