Coordinator (DMOTYL) - Patient Navigator for EGFR Lung Cancer
SingHealth · Singapore
Job description
About the role
SingHealth is looking for a Coordinator (DMOTYL), essentially a patient navigator, to act as the main contact for patients with EGFR-mutated lung cancer. The role helps patients navigate the complex healthcare system from diagnosis through disease progression, offering psycho-emotional support, explaining their options and coordinating clinical and logistical steps such as rebiopsy, treatment decisions and access to clinical trials.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate rebiopsy and post-progression investigations: arrange biopsy appointments, imaging and referrals, liaise with departments such as interventional radiology, pathology and the clinical trials team, and track investigation status so results reach the care team and patient promptly.
- Flag patients who may need more complex psycho-emotional support with MSW or nurses.
- Maintain a tracking system for patients after disease progression, monitoring rebiopsy, results, treatment decisions and enrolment in clinical trials or new therapies; list patients for MDT discussions where relevant and follow up those who may have been missed.
- Answer patient queries after consultation by person, WhatsApp, call or email, including side-effect management, appointment clarification and rescheduling, and reach out directly to patients less familiar with technology.
- Support EGFR-related patient education activities such as focus groups and education materials, and collaborate with the Lung Cancer Education and Advocacy for Patients (LEAP) team.
Required profile
- Degree in a relevant discipline (science background preferred).
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in a healthcare setting.
- Good communication and people skills, compassionate and empathic.
- Able to liaise with other departments and agencies, including government bodies and private institutions.
- Preferably able to speak local languages (Mandarin, dialects, Malay, Tamil) to communicate with patients.
Required skills
- Competence in using computer software and programs to assess patient information.
- Ability to work independently with initiative and creativity.
