Customer Engineer – Field Service (iTeam)

About the role

As a Customer Engineer (iTeam) at Applied Materials, you will act as the primary liaison with customers, installing, maintaining and upgrading advanced semiconductor equipment. The role combines hands‑on technical work with digital analytics to troubleshoot and ensure optimal equipment performance.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior engineers to install, maintain and upgrade customer equipment.
• Use digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques to identify and resolve technical issues.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems.
• Coordinate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations and high‑quality service.
• Participate in projects that support organizational goals.

Required profile

• Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience or trade certification.
• 1–2 years of customer/field service support experience (2–4 years preferred).
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time, including overseas assignments.

Required skills

• Digital analytics for equipment troubleshooting.
• Basic diagnostic techniques for electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electronic, vacuum and plasma systems.
• Proficiency with hand tools and digital multimeters.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
