Customer Engineer – Field Service

About the role

As a Customer Engineer at Applied Materials, you will be the primary liaison with customers, responsible for installing, maintaining, and upgrading semiconductor and display equipment. You will use digital analytics and diagnostic tools to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues while ensuring high service quality.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and upgrade customer equipment across electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance, applying troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
• Generate and follow documented procedures and task plans.
• Communicate with customers and internal teams, leading projects as needed.
• Train and mentor junior Field Service Engineers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree with 10‑15 years of experience in the semiconductor or equipment support industry.
• C5 Board Certification and advanced mechanical aptitude (pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, thermodynamics).
• Strong knowledge of hand tools, digital multimeters, and wafer processing parameters.
• Project management experience and ability to lead customer and internal meetings.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel (≈25% of time).
