Customer Engineer – Field Service (Semiconductor Equipment)

About the role

As a Customer Engineer at Applied Materials you will be the primary liaison with customers, installing, maintaining and upgrading advanced semiconductor and display equipment. You will use digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques to troubleshoot and ensure optimal performance of complex systems.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and upgrade customer equipment.
• Apply basic diagnostic techniques to assess and resolve technical issues, with support from senior engineers.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and customers to understand roadmaps, process flows and business challenges.
• Train and mentor junior field service engineers.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems.
• Coordinate and communicate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations.
• Fulfill additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree, military technical training, field service experience, or trade certification.
• 4‑7 years of experience in the semiconductor industry or related equipment support.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude with pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum and thermodynamics.
• Strong knowledge of hand tools and digital multimeters.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel.
• Ability to meet on‑site safety, environmental and COVID‑19 requirements.
