Data Engineer - Integrated E-Services (ITE HQ)

About the role

The Data Engineer supports the design, development and maintenance of reliable data platforms, pipelines and analytics-ready datasets. It suits a junior to mid-level candidate who wants to build practical data engineering skills on modern cloud platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, Azure data services and medallion architecture patterns.

Key responsibilities

• Work with stakeholders to understand business requirements, user needs and data issues.
• Design, build and maintain data pipelines, data models and structured datasets for reporting, analytics and decision-making.
• Organise data across layers, from raw sources to cleansed, transformed, business-ready datasets.
• Ensure data quality through validation, documentation, lineage tracking, access management and monitoring.
• Monitor pipeline performance, investigate failures and document fixes.
• Support cloud data solutions while meeting security, audit, governance and government ICT requirements.
• Contribute to ITE's data capability building with governed, reusable data assets for reporting, analytics, data sharing and future AI use cases.

Required profile

• Relevant degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Data Analytics, Software Engineering or a related field.
• Good analytical, troubleshooting, documentation and communication skills.
• Ability to work with stakeholders and turn data needs into technical tasks.

Required skills

• Understanding of ETL/ELT, data pipelines, data warehousing, lakehouse architecture or analytics platforms.
• SQL and data modelling; at least one scripting language such as Python or PySpark.
• Structured and semi-structured data handling.
• Advantageous: Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Warehouse, Data Factory, Notebooks, Dataflows, Semantic Models, OneLake, Power BI), Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure SQL, Azure DevOps, Git, CI/CD, data quality checks, lineage tracking and cloud security awareness.
