Data Engineer

About the role

Assurity Trusted Solutions (ATS), a wholly owned subsidiary of GovTech, is looking for a Data Engineer in Singapore. The role covers building and maintaining data pipelines, APIs and data products, and works closely with project managers, frontend developers, UX designers and data analysts in an Agile environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes to ingest, catalog, normalise data and ensure high data quality and availability.
• Create and manage APIs for data access, integration and delivery to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to turn requirements into technical solutions, and lead data modelling so data architecture supports business and analytical goals.
• Structure and document data transformation processes, and configure, curate and maintain a central data catalog or metadata repository such as DataZone.
• Implement data governance best practices and stay compliant with regulations.
• Work with the project manager, frontend developers, UX designers and data analysts to build scalable data-driven products, and support data consumers in using approved data products.
• Develop backend APIs and work on databases supporting the applications.

Required profile

• At least 3 years of experience as a Data Engineer with a track record of designing and deploying large-scale data solutions.
• Experience with structured, semi-structured and unstructured data.
• Ability to mentor team members and work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Required skills

• Strong Python, PySpark and SQL (MySQL, NoSQL).
• AWS ETL and orchestration tools such as AWS MSK (Kafka), Firehose, SNS, Airflow or equivalents.
• Data lake (SQL and NoSQL) and data warehouse knowledge (AWS S3, Redshift, Athena, BigQuery, RDBMS, NoSQL DBs).
• Apache Iceberg, Parquet, Hadoop, Spark, AWS and GCP.
• Data mesh principles, data product thinking and federated governance.
