Database Reliability Engineer - Core Team

About the role

As a member of ClickHouse's Core Site Reliability Engineering team, you will help ensure the reliability, availability, scalability and performance of ClickHouse in the cloud. You will work closely with Control Plane, Dataplane, Security, Support and Operations teams to guide best‑practice implementations for our customers.

Key responsibilities

• Continuously improve reliability and performance of ClickHouse core services.
• Create and refine metrics and alerts to detect production issues before they impact customers.
• Investigate common customer problems, submit bug fixes and suggest product improvements.
• Enhance incident response processes, run blameless post‑mortems and communicate outage details.
• Drive chaos engineering initiatives across engineering teams.
• Manage on‑call rotation, escalation procedures and best‑practice guidelines for reliability incidents.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in reliability engineering, QA or customer‑facing engineering.
• Experience operating ClickHouse or other SQL databases in production.
• Strong problem‑solving and production debugging skills.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, globally distributed team.

Required skills

• ClickHouse and other SQL database internals.
• Scripting with Shell and Python.
• Ability to read and understand C++ code.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Platform.
