Design Manager / Deputy Design Manager (Senior Management)

About the role

The Design Manager / Deputy Design Manager will lead the design and technical team on major infrastructure projects across Singapore. Reporting to senior leadership, the role ensures design coordination, regulatory compliance and cost‑effective solutions throughout project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee design and technical activities for large‑scale rail and road infrastructure, ensuring alignment with client specifications and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with consultants, authorities and the client to integrate multidisciplinary inputs and resolve technical issues.
• Prepare and monitor detailed design schedules, temporary and permanent works submissions, and ensure they match the construction programme.
• Optimize design approaches to minimise construction costs while maintaining quality and safety standards.
• Provide technical solutions for complex site challenges and support project planning, scheduling and execution strategies.

Required profile

• Recognised degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) accepted by the Singapore Building Control Authority.
• At least 10 years of civil engineering experience, including 8 years in design of complex rail/road projects.
• Proven experience handling authority submissions and ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Strong leadership, communication and analytical abilities, with the capacity to work under pressure.
