DevOps Lead (Platform & Infrastructure Engineering)

About the role

The company is seeking a senior DevOps professional to lead platform and infrastructure engineering initiatives. The role combines hands‑on technical ownership of AWS and Kubernetes environments with strategic guidance for next‑generation platform patterns.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, refactor and mature existing AWS infrastructure and Terraform codebases, ensuring clean remote state management and modular scalability.
• Drive proactive infrastructure upgrade cycles, including AWS service deprecations, EKS platform version updates and Terraform provider upgrades.
• Analyze and optimise cloud spend, focusing on compute efficiency, storage lifecycles and data transfer fees while preserving resilience.
• Architect transition to next‑generation platform engineering patterns such as policy‑as‑code and self‑service portals.
• Maintain and optimise production Amazon EKS clusters, handling zero‑downtime upgrades, node‑group efficiencies and ingress/egress configurations.
• Own and optimise ArgoCD implementation, ensuring drift detection, synchronization policies and multi‑cluster alignment.
• Manage and scale self‑hosted Bitbucket Runner fleet, improving availability, build execution time and cost efficiency.
• Maintain and enhance full‑stack observability (metrics, logs, traces) and monitor SLAs/SLIs/SLOs, acting as senior escalation point for incidents.

Required profile

• 7+ years of DevOps, Cloud Operations or SRE experience, with at least 2 years leading engineering teams.
• Deep production experience with core AWS services (VPC, EC2, IAM, S3, RDS, Route53, CloudFront) at scale.
• Extensive experience maintaining large‑scale Terraform codebases with remote state and multi‑workspace management.
• Hands‑on experience operating production Kubernetes (EKS) and continuous delivery using ArgoCD.
• Proven track record managing self‑hosted CI/CD runner fleets (Bitbucket Runners) and optimising pipelines.
• Strong scripting ability in Python, Go or Bash for automation.
• Experience with modern Kubernetes autoscalers such as Karpenter.
• Familiarity with automated compliance and vulnerability tools (Trivy, Checkov, OPA).
• Relevant certifications (CKA, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional) are a plus.
