Director, Policy & Government Relations

About the role

The Director, Policy & Government Relations will lead MSD’s Government Affairs strategy for vaccines and infectious diseases across the Asia‑Pacific region, shaping policy, building partnerships and translating bold ideas into public‑health impact.

Key responsibilities

• Provide Government Affairs leadership for the vaccines and infectious diseases portfolio, including HIV, across Asia Pacific.
• Develop and execute policy solutions and stakeholder‑engagement strategies that support prevention, market access, sustainable financing and launch readiness.
• Represent the policy function in regional cross‑functional asset teams and align priorities with the Global Policy & Public Affairs team.
• Assess early policy landscapes for pipeline priorities and translate portfolio needs into coordinated advocacy plans.
• Build partnerships with ministries, multilateral organisations, industry associations and civil‑society partners to advance shared public‑health goals.
• Coach local market teams on policy strategy, coalition building and implementation planning.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Public Health, Law, Business or a related field.
• Minimum 12 years of progressively responsible experience in Government Affairs, public policy, market access or a related area.
• Direct experience in Asia Pacific health‑system environments, both developed and emerging markets.
• Proven success developing and executing multi‑geography policy and advocacy strategies that deliver measurable legislative, regulatory or financing outcomes.
