Director, YouTube Trust & Safety (APAC)

About the role

The Director, APAC YouTube Trust and Safety leads high‑impact policy enforcement for the most sensitive escalations across the region. You will guide a team that handles external and internal escalations, ensuring rapid, accurate decisions that protect users and the brand.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality policy enforcement support on critical escalations from news outlets, regulators, customers and internal sources.
• Lead the APAC Escalations team and oversee the Market Responsibility Specialist function, providing regional insights.
• Manage complex incidents from start to finish, coordinating with senior stakeholders to align on policy principles and brand risk.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with Policy Development, Scaled Abuse, Monetization, Product, and Global Operations to operationalize and communicate enforcement decisions.
• Develop resilient workflows across policy areas such as Child Safety, Violent Extremism, Hate, Misinformation, and Adult content.
• Review graphic, controversial, and potentially offensive video content in line with YouTube’s Community Guidelines.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 15 + years in internet services, process improvement, or customer support.
• 3 + years managing, coaching, and developing a team in a crisis‑response environment.
• Willingness to work non‑standard weeks, including on‑call weekends on a rotational basis.
• Experience delivering customer experience against core metrics and driving process improvement.
• Demonstrated interest or experience in content policy or anti‑abuse operations.
• Strong business judgment, strategic and analytical capabilities, and ability to use data to drive decisions.
• Proven ability to build relationships with cross‑functional partners.
