Duty Engineer – Hotel Engineering

About the role

The Duty Engineer supports the Director of Engineering in overseeing the engineering and maintenance operations of a busy airport hotel. You will ensure guest safety, comfort, and the smooth functioning of all technical systems while leading a team of engineers and technicians.

Key responsibilities

• Recommend new policies and procedures to improve operational efficiency and reduce utility costs.
• Assist in preparing the annual POMEC budget and monitor energy expenditures.
• Conduct shift briefings, coordinate with other departments, and manage external contractors.
• Enforce engineering standards, attendance, and duty schedules for all staff.
• Provide on‑the‑job training, performance appraisals, and disciplinary actions as needed.
• Monitor the ESCAP system, ensure compliance with OH&S regulations, and respond to hazardous situations.
• Log security incidents and accidents according to hotel protocols.

Required profile

• Diploma in Building Facilities Management or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in hotel or facilities engineering.
• Strong knowledge of energy management, safety legislation, and hotel engineering standards.
